DAD!

At times a hilarious portrait of a troubled father–son relationship that, in moments, becomes highly relatable for audiences of all ages.

Director Sander Burger has begun filming PA!, a tragicomedy about a troubled father–son relationship, starring Bram Suijker and Gijs Scholten van Aschat. The supporting cast includes Eva Crutzen, Annet Malherbe, Guy Clemens, Denise Aznan, Aus Greidanus, Murth Mossel, Porgy Franssen, and Nayan Leijen. The screenplay is written by Paul Teunissen.

From the day the dependent Albert moves into the temporary upstairs apartment of his recently divorced son, journalist Daan, he becomes material for Daan’s journalistic ambitions. Struggling to keep his job, Daan spares no one—least of all his father—in his hilarious columns about caregiving. As the column grows increasingly successful, Daan continues to shuffle the broken pieces of his life like a coin pusher at a fairground. Confined together in the small flat, the two must reinvent themselves, as grandfather, son, father, and partner, if they are to avoid being consumed by conflict and guilt. Just as they begin to grow closer, everything explodes when Albert reads about himself in the newspaper.
